Bakery Shift Supervisor

Newport, RI

Manager/Supervisor

About Co-Dough

Co-Dough is a fast-growing sourdough bakery built around exceptional quality, hospitality, and creating memorable customer experiences. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a dependable, people-first Shift Supervisor to help lead our team and uphold the standards that make Co-Dough what it is.

The Role

The Shift Supervisor is a working leader responsible for overseeing daily operations across both the kitchen and front of house during their shift. This isn't a role where you stand back and watch — you'll be present, engaged, and setting the tone for the team around you. You'll ensure that quality standards are met, the team is supported, and the shift runs smoothly from open to close. At Co-Dough, quality isn't just a box to check — it's the foundation of everything we do, and this role plays a direct part in upholding it.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor and enforce product quality standards throughout the shift, identifying and addressing inconsistencies before they result in waste or loss
  • Ensure all recipes and production processes are followed precisely and consistently — no shortcuts, no improvisation
  • Handle all proprietary processes and recipes with professionalism and discretion
  • Ensure products are prepared and delivered to the front of house on time and to standard, minimizing delays and service disruptions
  • Serve as the communication bridge between production team and front of house, ensuring both teams are aligned, informed, and working in sync throughout the shift
  • Hold team members accountable to performance and output expectations, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and within expected timeframes
  • Report shift observations, quality concerns, team performance issues, and operational updates directly to management
  • Assist with the onboarding of new team members, ensuring they are trained to Co-Dough's standards from day one
  • Support ongoing training as policies, processes, or standards evolve, ensuring the team is always operating on current information
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly workspace across both production areas and front of house at all times
  • Receive and verify incoming product deliveries, ensuring accuracy and quality before accepting
  • Ensure trash and recycling are properly disposed of during the shift and at close, in accordance with Co-Dough's standards

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or lead role in food service, hospitality, or a production environment
  • A natural leader who leads by example rather than authority
  • Strong attention to detail, especially around product quality and consistency
  • Calm, composed, and effective under pressure
  • A team-first mindset with clear and confident communication
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and best practices

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform repetitive tasks
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, early morning environment
  • Availability to work mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Compensation & Growth

  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience
  • This role is an important part of where Co-Dough is headed. We are actively working on building out our processes and operational foundation, and this person will be a key part of that work. As the business grows and those systems mature, we see this role as a natural stepping stone into a management position for the right person.
